A wall of ice, mud and rocks collapsed into a river in the Himalayan mountains, turning entire communities in Nepal into scenes of devastation within minutes. The disaster struck mainly the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, while also affecting areas of Tibet in China, leaving hundreds dead and more than 1,000 people missing.
