On September 15, Fiji declared a national HIV emergency. The announcement followed a shift that statistics had been recording for years: the estimated number of people living with HIV reached 9,100 in 2025, while only 39% knew their status and 22% had access to antiretroviral treatment. For an island nation with fewer than one million inhabitants, the speed of that curve became the most important figure.
