Iceland has decided to remain outside the European Union by rejecting the resumption of negotiations over possible membership in the bloc. The referendum held on Saturday, August 29, ended with 52.8% voting “No” and 47.2% voting “Yes,” according to results reported by Iceland’s public broadcaster RÚV and cited by international news organizations.
