Donald Trump has turned a legislative election into something resembling a political contract: if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate, he promises to give US$ 5,000 to every American adult. Dubbed the “Trump dividend” by the president himself, the plan was announced on Wednesday, September 9, during the Republican convention in Dallas, Texas.
