The European Commission announced on Friday (10) its preliminary findings that Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, may have breached the Digital Services Act (DSA) by incorporating design features that could encourage compulsive use of its platforms. The investigation highlights mechanisms such as infinite scroll, autoplay videos, persistent push notifications and highly personalized recommendation systems.
