Greenland has returned to the center of the strategic dispute between the United States and Europe. On Friday, September 18, 2026, Donald Trump announced an agreement with Denmark and the Greenlandic government to expand the American military presence on the island. The president described the arrangement as a guarantee of permanent US control over Greenland security. The wording, however, immediately drew reactions from Copenhagen and Nuuk.
