The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 triggered the country's worst seismic disaster in nearly a century. The two powerful tremors occurred less than a minute apart, causing widespread destruction across La Guaira state and the capital, Caracas, and prompting a large-scale international humanitarian response.
